EANS Research Course 2012
October 2012, exact dates TBA
Krakow, Poland
The EANS Research Courses have been running successfully since 1997. Previous courses have been held for example in Paris and Frankfurt am Main.
The ethos of the courses is to promote research training in Europe. Core topics include how to get funded, started and published. The courses include talks on how to obtain funding, how to write a paper and how to give an oral presentation. Previous interactive sessions have included how to analyse data in terms of statistics.
Each course also has a specifiic theme, focussing on research techniques. Previous courses have covered tumour research, multimodality monitoring in intensive care and research in functional neurosurgery.
The courses are run by a faculty comprising members of the EANS Research committee and guest speakers. They are designed to be interactive with trainees bringing their own ideas for group discussion.

EANS CME Spine Course, Part 2 - Thoracolumbar Spine
5th - 8th November 2012
Leiden, The Netherlands
The EANS Spine Course is a two-part course aimed at recently or soon to be qualified neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons. It is a comprehensive course covering: in the first part, Cervical Spine and in the second Thoracic and Lumbar spine.
The course employs various teaching methods including plenary lectures and discussion, animated discussion groups, journal clubs and hands on workshops. In addition to the main scientific programme, a Cadaver course will take place.
The varied nature of the programme gives participants the opportunity for informal debate with their colleagues and with the teaching faculty. Moreover the course is taught by internationally recognised speakers from European countries and attracts participants from across Europe which adds a valuable international dimension to the discussion and the course as a whole.
