Who can apply?
The aim of the EANS Research Fund is to nurture young researchers in all member countries of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies. Applicants should be either neurosurgical trainees, research fellows or junior consultants (5 years or less). The principal named applicant must be an individual member of the EANS. Only applications submitted by the EANS Individual Members of a good standing will be considered in the selection process.

6-8 Seed grants will be awarded across the various neurosurgical specialties addressing operative neurosurgery (microsurgery), brain injury, vascular neurosurgery, oncology, spine surgery, functional neurosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, cerebro-spinal disorders, paediatric neurosurgery and pre-clinical neuroscience.
Project location
The seed grants will be available to neurosurgeons in all member countries of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies to encourage European cooperation and collaboration. Both laboratory and clinical research projects will be eligible for
funding.
What is the grant?
Each successful applicant will receive the sum of €10,000 to pump prime their research activities.
Each award of €10,000 should be spent within 12 months of receipt.
The award will be paid to the employer of the principal named applicant. A contract will be drawn up between the EANS and the host institution.

- 21.02.2022 Deadline for grant applications;
- 28.02.2022 Open scoring;
- 31.03.2022 Close scoring;
- 30.06.2022 Announcement of grant winners;
- Oct 2022 Award winners invited to present their work and receive their certificate at the EANS2022 Congress.
