Peter is Chairman of the European Board of Neurological Surgery.
Peter is a consultant neurosurgeon in the South West Neurosurgery Centre, Plymouth UK. He undertook neurosurgical training in Cambridge. His thesis explored molecular mechanisms underlying ischaemia. His clinical practice is broad covering traumatic brain injury, neurovascular surgery, neuro oncology and degenerative spinal conditions. He has been Training Programme Director in the South West of England and is currently (2018-2020) Chairman of the SAC in Neurosurgery. This committee is responsible for the selection of trainees, the curriculum and the award of completion of training certificates. Peter is also an Examiner for the MRCS and FRCS examinations. Peter is lead editor of “Head Injury: A multidisciplinary approach” and Neuroanatomy Section editor for “Gray’s Surgical Anatomy”. He is author of many peer reviewed publications and has delivered presentations to many learned bodies. He is actively involved in undergraduate medical education and is Professionalism Lead in the Peninsula Medical School.
